The tales, which pany with me in my old days, often make me thinkof some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. Thissummer I’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. It’s theworld-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The LittlePrince. As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not plex. “I”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has somethingwrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion, the pilot makes theacquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, theAsteroid B612. The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because hehas some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he lefthis own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids. On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people,which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighterand a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups arevery odd. Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in theSahara, on the earth. Traveling on the earth, the little prince, who sees a garden of five-thousandroses, is e with astonishment and sadness, as he considers his rose isunique in the universe before. At that time a fox appears. The fox, who tell thelittle prince about the meaning of the word “tame”, es his new friend. Atthe time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose is unique becauseshe is his rose and tamed by him. From that the little prince begins to treasurefriendship and be responsible to his rose. At the anniversary day of his descent of the earth, rejecting the pilot’sadvice, he goes back to his own planet by bite of a snake. “It’s too far. I cannot carry this body with me. It’s too heavy.” he said. He tells his friend, thepilot, he must be responsible for his rose, so he has to go back. At the end theauthor doesn’t tell us the ending directly. Maybe it’s more significant for usto imagine, and for more, think over. One of the important characters is the rose. Growing on the planet, she isvery beautiful, but her coquetry and vanity suffer the little prince a lot. Inspite of they love each other, he soon es unhappy. On the time of hisdeparture, he just knows she certainly loves him. The character of the littleprince actually represents the children, and their native thoughts and deeds. Onthe contrary, the inhabitants on the other planets, such as the king, thebusinessman and the conceited man, they also reflect the defects in thegrown-up’s world. The real theme of this fairy-tale with a little sadness, Iguess, is the consequence of pure love and friendship in our lives, but notothers “matters of consequence” of the grown-ups. 　　The Little Prince is a tale for both children and adults. The Little Prince is the story of a man who crashes his airplane into the desert only to meet a traveling boy from a small planet. He knows that the rose is naive with only four purposeless thorns and, out of his loyalty to her, it is his duty to protect her. Likewise, the narrator loves the prince and feels an obligation to secure his safe journey home. I read this book as a child and was infected with a sense of awe and a newfound respect for the written word and its power to touch, heal and change perception. For myself, it accomplished two things; it instilled in me a desire to one day become a writer and touch others with my words and like the narrator of the story, and Antoine De Saint-Exupery (whose own plane crash is said to have been the basis for the tale) it instilled within me a hope that one day the Little Prince will return and someone will let me know. What is the meaning of this tale? Easily saying is that the tale talk about many normal things like morals and principles and values from two different but successive way as children and adults. As the narrator said you can only catch adults’ attention by describing the price of something or saying the number of something. It’s hard to make adults feel lovely by the children’s beautiful describing. That is the reason why many adults believe this tale is a tale for adults. Being insincere and utilitarian, adults consider useful and kids think sinful. Free spirit and free heart, adults consider absurd and children believe necessary. The amazing point is that these two different beliefs are held by one species--Human. When we were young, we could see anything God want us to see. But after decades, what we could see was only something we need to see. There are so many good things for children and their imagination. And there are not so many things for adults and their reality.
